Help us reach €3,000/month to secure a Bank Loan
Our vision is to establish a permanent Vipassana meditation centre in Ireland. Vipassana, as taught by S.N. Goenka, has been offered in Ireland for almost 30 years in temporary rented spaces. Now, there is an opportunity to establish a permanent centre — a dedicated environment where students can deepen their practice and future generations can learn Dhamma. This is a collective effort, supported by the generosity and service of old students. If you feel inspired to join in this shared project, you are warmly welcome.
Based on our research, we need at least €1 million to purchase a suitable property. Suitable properties range from €700,000 to €4 million, with additional renovation costs. To assess our financial readiness, we are inviting old students to pledge donations or loans. These pledges are non-binding and simply help us understand the level of support available.
The figures on this website are as accurate as possible based on the information available right now. They will be updated as new information becomes available.
What we've learned is that banks place more importance on recurring monthly income than on course donations. Their concern is that if courses had to pause again (as during Covid), there wouldn't be enough money coming in to repay the loan. Even though our course expenses are consistently covered by end-of-course donations, this isn't considered sufficient by lenders.
To qualify for a loan of around €350,000, we need to demonstrate consistent monthly income of €3,000. At the moment, monthly donations from 39 old students total €1,225 — leaving €1,775 still needed.
This image gives a breakdown of how different monthly amounts could help meet this remaining target.
If you feel inspired to support this step toward a permanent centre, a monthly standing order can be set up for any amount.
"This is a historic occasion. People who give dana for building a centre are actually giving service not only to those who come here for the first or second course, and not only to the people who will be coming here in a few years. They are planting a seed in this land, where Dhamma will grow; and for coming centuries this land will be a lighthouse of Dhamma."
